Bird Control in Brevard & Orange County, FL
Need bird control at a home or small commercial site? We identify the species first, then remove or wait-and-exclude — so you stay legal under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act.
Pigeons, European starlings, and house sparrows (non-native) can usually be removed anytime. Many native birds — swallows, ospreys, wading birds — cannot have an active nest with eggs or chicks disturbed without a federal permit.
This page covers residential-scale nests (gutters, gable vents, porch lights). For parking-garage netting, warehouse rafters, stadiums, or marinas, see Commercial Bird Work — a structural install, not a single-nest job.
Signs of a Bird Problem
- Nesting material in gutters, eaves, signage, or HVAC units.
- Droppings staining walks, roofs, or parking below a roost.
- Cooing or scratching from soffits or rooflines.
- Birds repeatedly entering a vent, louver, or gap.
- Blocked gutters or dryer vents from nest debris.
Our Bird Control Process
- Identify protected native vs. unprotected non-native species.
- Unprotected: remove nest and exclude with netting, spikes, or mesh.
- Protected with active nest: monitor until fledging, then exclude.
- Install lasting deterrents matched to the structure — not one-time scare devices.
- Clean and sanitize the roost of droppings and debris.
Florida Law & Compliance
Disturbing an active nest of a protected native species is a federal offense under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act. We check species and nest status before touching anything. See FWC nuisance wildlife rules →
| Factor | Why It Matters |
|---|---|
| Number of entry points | More access points mean more exclusion material and labor time |
| Attic/roof accessibility | Steep, multi-story, or tile roofs require extra safety equipment |
| Presence of young/litter | Family removal takes extra time and a humane handling approach |
| Extent of damage | Insulation replacement, wiring repair referrals, and sanitation add scope |
| Recurring or unresolved activity | Prior incomplete exclusion elsewhere may require more extensive sealing |
Bird Control FAQs
Can you remove a pigeon nest right away?
Yes, if it is pigeons, European starlings, or house sparrows. Those three are non-native and have no protection under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act. The nest can come down and the ledge can be closed the same visit. A swallow, wren, or osprey nest with eggs or chicks is a different animal and a different law.
What if the birds are a protected native species?
We leave an active nest alone until the young fledge. Disturbing eggs or chicks of a native bird takes a federal permit we do not pretend to have. After the nest is empty we close the spot and put a deterrent on it so next season does not start in the same eave.
Do you handle commercial bird netting?
A nest on a sign, a vent, or a small HVAC unit is bird control. A parking deck, a warehouse bay, or a stadium is commercial bird work. Spikes fit a narrow ledge. Netting is what you use when birds occupy an open volume. We will say which one the building actually needs.
How is bird control different from commercial wildlife control?
Bird control is the nest and the entry on a house or a small site. Commercial wildlife control is the broader job for a business or an HOA: rodents, a one-time bird problem, and the paperwork a board or an inspector asks for. Structural netting is its own service.
